2 more ounces

Kenzie's up to 4lbs, 2.4 ounces. That means he might be moved to a crib tomorrow, and out of his isolette. (The isolette is a closed, plastic container that regulates his temperature). The crib is an open small plastic bassinet that is a test for him to see if he can keep himself warm. He is still on the canula (it gives him a small dose of oxygen), which drives us crazy because we feel like he's been on it too long. He also still has heart decelerations after he eats that we find terrifying. The nurses and the head neo-natologist had to talk us down tonight, explaining that all of his is normal. After telling us that he will grow out of all of this, the neo-natologist told us to go out to dinner and have a glass of wine. Actually, she told me to take Mike out to dinner because it was his turn to be frantic. It seems like we alternate nights that we fall apart- yesterday I had a bad night because I couldn't get him to eat more than 5-cc's of milk from a bottle and the nurse got him to eat 15 cc's. That lead to a panic that I won't be able to take care of him properly when he's home, etc, etc...

All said, we had quite a week. We're exhausted, but happy and going out to dinner actually did help us feel better because we got the chance to talk about other things than the NNCU for a little while.
